Belgian beer is now protected by UNESCO

Belgium Brewing culture included in the List of Intangible Heritage. This was reported on the organization's website.

It is noted that beer is part of the national heritage of the country, which produce around 1,5 thousand kinds of this drink.

It is also used in cooking and for the production of several types of cheese.

The main purpose of the World Heritage List is to protect properties that are unique in their own way. As of 2015 year, the list totaled the 1031 item.
