Japan has no claims to the Russian grain

Japan informed the Russian side of the absence of claims to the safety indicators of grain imported into the country from the Russian Federation, according to the Rosselkhoznadzor website.

The negotiations of the Rosselkhoznadzor delegation with their Japanese colleagues took place on May 17 as part of a visit to Japan to discuss the supply of Russian grain and its processed products to the country's market.

“During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for increasing the supply of Russian grain and its processed products to the Japanese market…. At the same time, the Japanese side informed the Russian side about the absence of significant claims to the safety indicators of grain imported into Japan from the Russian Federation, ”the message says.

The Japanese side stressed the importance of developing and improving safety standards for food imported into Japan, since 60% of all agricultural products are imported into the country.

Earlier, RIA Novosti writes, the head of the RF Ministry of Agriculture, Alexander Tkachev, stated that Russia is working on the issue of supplies of soybeans and wheat to Japan. Prior to that, the head of the Russian agrarian department said that there is great potential between the two countries in increasing bilateral trade in agricultural products and, in addition to grain, including meat products, supplies of corn and sunflower oil.
