Rosstat: retail turnover slowed decline in August

Retail trade turnover in Russia in January-August 2016 was reduced to 5,7% at constant prices compared to the same period last year - up to 17,933 trillion rubles, in August - by 5,1%, to 2,436 trillion rubles, reports "RIA Novosti" referring to the operational report of Rosstat.

In July, the index drop was 5,2% in annual terms. This statistical office revised its assessment of the dynamics of the July retail sales - in the middle of August Rosstat estimated the reduction in 5%. "These modified by clarifying the respondent previously provided information," - says the agency.

In August retail trade turnover at 92,7% formed by trading organizations and individual entrepreneurs operating out of the market. The share of retail markets and fairs amounted to 7,3%. In August last year, these shares were 92,2 7,8% and% respectively.

In the structure of retail trade turnover in August, the share of food products, beverages and tobacco amounted to 47,7%, the share of non-food products - 52,3% (in August last year - 47,6% and 52,4%, respectively).
