Rosselkhoznadzor (RSKHN) said he was concerned about the increase in exports to Russia through Belarus grapes from third countries, among which may be prohibited to import products from Turkey and EU countries.
After Russia 1 banned several agricultural products from Turkey since January 2016, Belarus turned into a major importer of Turkish products, in particular grapes, Rosselkhoznadzor noted.
According to the National Statistical Committee of Belarus, in January-August of the current year, compared with the same period of 2015, grape imports to the country increased 2,4 times - from 9,4 to 24,7 thousand tons. Grape imports from Turkey grew by more than five times - from 2,8 to 14,7 thousand tons.
“However, over the same period, imports of grapes from Belarus to the Russian Federation also more than doubled - from 3,4 to 7,8 thousand tons,” the ministry said.
In addition, such countries as Somalia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Central African Republic appeared in the structure of Belarusian imports, supplying their products in complex logistics ways through the EU countries. Information on export volumes for 2016 year of production to Russia, Belarus, countries of the European Union and logistic routes of its supply will be re-requested from these countries for further comparison with the volumes of products imported into Russia.
The Rosselkhoznadzor stressed that they are constantly analyzing the situation with the supply of vegetables and fruits from Belarus and are taking operational measures.
