RSKHN suspected of Belarus in the re-export of tomatoes

Rosselkhoznadzor (RSKHN) check, where tomatoes are grown, which are exported to Russia from Belarus. This is stated in a press release on the site office.

According to the service, for the last two years - since the introduction of Russian embargo of the product - Belarus increased the import of tomatoes.

Imports of these products increased from up to 80 144 thousand tons ostensibly due to a sharp increase in supplies from Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina. "In the year 2015 323 Rosselkhoznadzor was revealed only Turkish and Moroccan counterfeit phytosanitary certificate, which indicates the mass trying to smuggle prohibited for import of tomatoes into the territory of Russia", - said in a statement.

In Rosselkhoznadzor emphasize that after the introduction of the Russian government in January 1 2016, the restrictions on the supply of Turkish agricultural products for the first eight months of this year, the import of Turkish tomatoes to Belarus has increased almost four times - up to 17 64 thousand tons.

"At the same time we started to supply to Belarus tomatoes allegedly from sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. These products are re-exported to Russia, "- said Rosselkhoznadzor.

The Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision also point to the growth of supply of fresh pears from Belarus. Fruits, according to the documents, grown in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. At the same time, exports from the 2013 pears from Belarus to Russia has increased seven-fold, reaching 159 thousand tons.

To check the accuracy of the information stated in the export certificates for fruit and vegetables, Rosselkhoznadzor has made requests to the Russian Embassy in Afghanistan, Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Lebanon, Mali, Syria and the Central African Republic (CAR).

In September 2016, the Deputy Prosecutor General Vladimir Malinovsky said that foreign products are prohibited from being imported into Russia are often supplied with forged and accompanying phytosanitary documents, including under the guise of Belarusian goods. In particular, he said that the number of apples exported to Russia in 2015 year, five times more than the crop harvested in the country.
