Scientists have great news for those who like coffee, tea and wine. Researchers from Belgium and the Netherlands have found strong evidence that the use of these drinks good for your health.
human intestine is home to tens of trillions of microorganisms, some of which are pathogens, but most of them are harmless or even beneficial.
Microbes are present in every human intestines, but no two people who have the same composition of microbial species in the intestine.
Experts believe that the composition of the human microbial community may also play a role in mood swings, associated with obesity and other diseases, including irritable bowel syndrome.
A variety of microbes - plus the human intestine. And now the international team of researchers found that, for example, wine can help increase this diversity intestine.
"In total, we found 60 dietary factors that affect the diversity", - says Alexander Zhernakova (Alexandra Zhernakova), a researcher at the University of Groningen.
In his large-scale study Zhernakova and her colleagues analyzed the microbial composition of the intestines more 1100 volunteers. They were collected analyzes, followed by parts of DNA, scientists have determined which bacteria inhabit their bodies. The researchers also collected data on the diet of the subjects and the use of medications.
After analysis of scientists has identified a group of 126 factors that affect the composition of the microflora in the gut: 60 of them are edible, 12 are related to various diseases, 19 associated with drugs and four - smoking.
So, it turned out that people who consume more kefir and buttermilk (skimmed cream) have higher levels of diversity of bacteria. And this has a positive effect on the immune system of the body.
The researchers also found that just benefit the intestines coffee, tea, wine, yogurt, fruits and vegetables.
Meanwhile foods high in simple sugars, such as glucose and lactose, may reduce the amount of beneficial bacteria. For example, whole milk and sugary soft drinks have a negative impact on the state of the intestinal microbiome.
By the number of "poor" materials scientists carried and drugs, which have a negative impact on the health of the intestine. Antibiotics and metformin (a drug for patients with diabetes) may reduce the content of beneficial bacteria in the gut. In addition, the negative impact on the microbial realm has and smoking in the abdomen.
At the same time, scientists could not determine exactly why and how certain foods or particular way of life (smoking, for example) have an effect on the microflora in the gut.
Experts speculated that play a role in fiber and carbohydrate composition. But to fix it accurately, it should be studied in detail each product supply and its influence.
The study was published in the journal Science.
